Facebook ads for dry cleaners and laundries

A laundry customer who likes the service comes back every week for years. The hard part is the first order, since most people keep using the dhobi or shop they have always used. An ad aimed at the housing societies near you, with your pickup offer and a clear price list, gets that first bag of clothes.

Who you’re trying to reach

Your regulars are working couples and bachelors in flats and PGs who have no time to wash and iron, plus families who send out heavy items: blankets, curtains, sofa covers. Then come the occasional jobs. A silk saree before a wedding, a sherwani after one, a suit for an interview, woollens before winter. Hotels, salons, gyms and clinics also need a laundry they can rely on for towels and linen.

What to put in the ad

Free pickup and delivery

Name the societies or areas you cover and the pickup times, with a photo of folded, packed clothes. Most first orders come from people who were waiting for someone to collect the bag from their door.

Price list by the piece or by the kilo

Shirt, trouser, saree, blanket, with the price next to each. People hesitate because they don’t know what a dry clean costs. A price list answers that before they have to ask.

Wedding and festival wear

Show careful work on a lehenga, a heavy silk saree or a sherwani, and say how you handle zari and embroidery. This is where people are nervous about handing clothes over, so show the care.

Lead form or WhatsApp

We’d start with a WhatsApp ad. Laundry orders are quick back-and-forth messages: what time can you pick up, how much for a blanket, when will it be back. WhatsApp suits that, and customers can send a photo of a stain before you quote. For hotels, salons and other business accounts, a lead form ad is better, since you will want to call and agree on a rate.

How WhatsApp ads work

Who should see it

Target only the area you can pick up from, often 2 to 5 km around the shop. Laundry is a convenience purchase, and an enquiry from outside your route is wasted. Keep the age range around 22 to 50. If you run a separate ad for business linen, widen the area to the city.

Busy times to plan for

  • Start of winter, October and November, when blankets and woollens come out
  • End of winter, February and March, when woollens are cleaned before storing
  • Diwali cleaning, for curtains, sofa covers and carpets
  • Wedding season, roughly November to February
  • Monsoon, when clothes don’t dry at home

Questions

Should I target the whole city to get more orders?

No. Target the areas your pickup route covers. Orders from across the city cost you more in fuel and time than they bring in.

Do I need a website for the ad?

No. A WhatsApp ad opens a chat with your business number, and a lead form ad collects the name and phone number inside Facebook or Instagram. Either works without a website.

What should the ad photo show?

Your own work, ideally a neatly packed order or a heavy garment on a hanger after cleaning. Real photos of your shop and your packing do better than stock images of washing machines.

How do I market a laundry or dry cleaning business?

Free pickup and drop is the offer that moves people from their usual presswala. Advertise it to apartments within 3 km with your price per piece, and take pickup requests on WhatsApp.
