Facebook and Instagram ads for sweet shops

A sweet shop sells most of its year in a few weeks: Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, the wedding season. An ad that goes out two weeks before each one, to families within a few kilometres of the shop, fills the order book before the rush instead of during it.

Who you’re trying to reach

Your buyers are mostly families near the shop, plus three groups that order in bulk: families planning a wedding or a puja, offices buying Diwali gifts for staff and clients, and people sending sweets to relatives in other cities. The bulk buyers decide early and compare prices, which is why they respond to an ad with a box price and a last date to order.

What to put in the ad

Festival boxes with a pre-order date

Show the boxes with the price per box and "order by" date, for example a 500 g mixed box for Diwali. A clear date gets people to message now instead of walking in on the busiest day.

Wedding and bulk orders

A photo of your wedding boxes or a mithai counter setup, with "quotes for 100 boxes and more". These buyers want to talk, so a lead form that collects their number works well.

Your daily specialities

Outside the festival weeks, push what people come back for: fresh kaju katli, the morning farsan, your ghee sweets, or the seasonal item only you make, plus the delivery area if you deliver.

Lead form or WhatsApp

We’d start with a WhatsApp ad. Most sweet orders are short conversations: which box, how many, when to pick up. WhatsApp handles that well. For wedding and corporate orders, where you want to call back with a quote, use a lead form ad instead.

How WhatsApp ads work

Who should see it

For walk-ins and home delivery, target a 3 to 8 km area around the shop. For festival gifting and wedding orders, widen it to the whole city, since people travel for a shop they trust. Keep the age range wide, around 25 to 60, because the person ordering is usually the one running the household or the office.

Busy times to plan for

  • Diwali, with corporate gift orders starting three to four weeks before
  • Raksha Bandhan
  • Wedding season, roughly November to February
  • Navratri and Dussehra
  • Holi, Eid and Makar Sankranti, depending on your area

Questions

When should a Diwali ad start?

About three weeks before Diwali for office gifting, and ten days before for families. Running the ad through the last week brings walk-ins too, but the bulk orders are decided early.

Can the ad show my prices?

Yes, and it usually helps. A box price filters out people who were only browsing and gives serious buyers a reason to message.

I don’t deliver. Is an ad still worth it?

Yes, keep the area small, around 3 to 5 km, and say "pre-order and pick up" in the ad. Pre-orders also tell you how much to make for the festival.

How should a sweet shop advertise before a festival?

Begin two to three weeks before Diwali or Raksha Bandhan with your gift box sizes and prices. Offices and families order in bulk early, and a WhatsApp button lets them send the quantity straight away.
