Facebook and Instagram ads for travel agents

Families decide on a holiday weeks before they travel, usually around school holidays, and they want someone to sort out the hotel, the cab and the train or flight together. An ad with a named destination, a number of nights and a price per person reaches them while they are still choosing.

Who you’re trying to reach

Your customers include families planning the summer or Diwali break, couples looking for a honeymoon after the wedding season, older parents going on a pilgrimage, and groups of friends or colleagues booking together. Pilgrimage buyers are often the children booking for their parents. Most people ask many questions before paying, so they want a person to talk to, not only a website.

What to put in the ad

One destination, one price

Kashmir, Kerala, Goa or a short trip abroad, with the number of nights, what is included and the starting price per person. A single clear package gets better enquiries than a list of ten places.

Pilgrimage packages for parents

Char Dham, Vaishno Devi, Tirupati or Umrah, with a line on comfort: train or flight, hotel close to the temple, help with the elderly. Make it clear who to call, since the son or daughter often books it.

Honeymoon and group trips

Show a honeymoon package after the wedding rush, or a group rate for 10 or more people. Group buyers like a quote for their date, so ask for the group size in the form.

Lead form or WhatsApp

We’d start with a lead form ad. A holiday booking takes a few conversations: dates, number of people, budget, hotel choice. A lead form gives you the number to call and follow up, and the Leads tab can remind you when to call back. If most of your customers already chat with you on WhatsApp, a WhatsApp ad works too.

How lead form ads work

Who should see it

Target your own city and nearby towns, since people book with an agent they can visit. For a pilgrimage package, you can widen to the whole state. Set the age to 25 to 60 for family holidays, and 22 to 35 for honeymoon packages.

Busy times to plan for

  • Summer school holidays, with bookings from February to April
  • Diwali and Christmas holidays, with bookings a month or two before
  • Honeymoon trips after the November to February wedding season
  • Char Dham, when the temples open around April or May
  • Long weekends through the year

Questions

Should I show prices in the ad?

A starting price per person helps. People who can’t afford it skip the ad, and the ones who enquire are closer to booking.

Can I target people in another city?

Yes. You choose the areas, from a locality to all of India. For example, a Kerala package can be shown to people in Mumbai, Pune and Bengaluru.

How do I keep track of all the enquiries?

Each enquiry shows up in the Leads tab with the name and phone number. You can mark its status and set a reminder to call back, which helps when people take a week to decide.

How do travel agents get leads for tour packages?

Advertise one destination with dates and a per-person price, for example Kashmir in May or Char Dham in September. People planning that trip fill the form, and you speak to them while they’re still comparing.
